Children

We are excited to offer opportunities for children to grow into faith and learn about God’s love for them. If you have questions or need more information, please contact our Christian Education Director children.youth@umcmh.org at or the Church Office at office@umcmh.org.

Sunday School

 9:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. during the school year

During the 9:00 worship service, parents may choose to have their children leave at 9:15 to attend Sunday school. After worship we invite parents to enjoy coffee and refreshments in Fellowship Hall until Sunday School concludes at 10:15.

If your family would prefer to attend Sunday School at 9:15 and worship at 10:30, simply bring your child or children to Sunday School at 9:15 and meet them when classes let out at 10:15.

Preschool: Ages 3 - 5

Children listen to a Bible story and make simple crafts that relate to the weekly story.  They practice sharing during supervised play time and interact through games and music.

Elementary:  Kindergarten -  Grade 5

Deep Blue is an exciting new curriculum being introduced this fall that will lead students through the Bible. Students will be challenged to ‘Dive Deeper’ into the Bible and explore their faith through lessons that feature crafts, stories, adventure, games and science. If children have Bibles, they are encouraged to bring them to class. Three age-level classes are available: Preschool, K-2, and 3-5.

Children are invited to worship services

We welcome children of all ages to attend worship with their families and caregivers. As Jesus said, “Let the children come to me.” Children learn how to respond to the church, to God and to one another by participating in and observing what happens during worship. The following options are available during worship:

Activity Bags

Children are welcome to bring activity bags into worship. These are located in the upper entryway and include activity sheets, crayons, small toys and books.

Children's Bulletin

We have a kid-friendly, interactive bulletin format that encourages older elementary students to follow along with the worship service.

Time with Children

During the service the pastor will invite children of all ages to come forward for a short story or lesson related to the theme of the day.

Infants & Toddlers

We recognize that sometimes children get restless. If you need to leave the service to tend to your child, please feel free to do so;  let an usher know if you need assistance. You may be more comfortable viewing our service via live-streaming in the upper entryway or library, down the hall from the sanctuary. The 10:30 service is also viewable via livestreaming in the church library, down the hall from the sanctuary.

Free Nursery Care

When you are ready to entrust the care of children to our nursery staff, we are glad to welcome infants and children up through the age of 5. The nursery is located on our lower level and includes a private rocking/nursing area. If you need changing tables, those are located in both upstairs restrooms, the women’s restroom downstairs, and in the nursery.

Vacation Bible School - Aug. 7-12

Come discover your strength in God when we host HERO CENTRAL! Along with some of our favorite Bible heroes, we will spend the week discovering the qualities that make us truly heroic to God! There will be science, music, recreation, crafts and food. We will hold VBS in the evening again this year. More details and information will be provided this summer.

Camp in the Community - July 10-14

Mount Horeb UMC is excited to host this event again this summer. Last year, we invited the community and had camp for the week right at our own church. There will be singing, movement, crafting and much more. Camp counselors are provided, as well as lunch and morning and afternoon snacks. Cost for the entire week is $50. Invite a friend or neighbor and come have some fun! Watch for more information.
