What is Legacy of Love?

Legacy of Love is a joyful celebration of the Mount Horeb United Methodist Church, its members and friends. Through the creation of a beautiful wooden art display to decorate our gathering space outside of the sanctuary, we will: 


• Commemorate our MHUMC history.

• Remember and honor those who have gone before us.

• Cherish and recognize our community members and friends. 

• Create a vibrant and stable future.


Donors will choose the names and messages they would like to share on individual wooden pieces that will comprise the art display. The donations will free our resources to step into our future unburdened by retiring our current mortgage. This is a collective opportunity to say yes to our Church’s goals, missions and service, and lift us all into the future of Mount Horeb United Methodist Church. 

The Legacy of Love installation was unveiled at a special dedication celebration, October 2, 2024.
The wall includes history panels about our congregation, as well as personalized wood blocks purchased by members and friends.

How can I be part of Legacy of Love?

It's not too late to be a part of this special project. We are still adding blocks as donations come in, and our mortgage is paid in full.


Begin by choosing the size block/donation amount you would like to give — scroll down to see details on the chart. Your pledged donation for the block can be made all at once, or with a monthly payment spanning one year or three years. 


You can decide what name(s) or information you would like engraved on your block. You may honor a loved one, represent yourself or your family, remember an important date, such as a baptism, confirmation, wedding, etc., or you may share a Bible verse, line of poetry or your own personal message. If you have more than one message, you may purchase multiple blocks. Each donor wall block is considered a separate pledge. 


Once your pledge information is confirmed, and we have a record of the name(s) or message you’ve submitted, the message will be engraved onto your wooden piece. The piece will then fit into the art display like a puzzle piece. This art display will become a permanent recognition of our faith community in our Church lobby.

How do I share the message to go on my wood block?

  1. If you know your message, you can write it down and submit it with a hand-written pledge form.
  2. If you don’t know what your message should be or if you are making a donation online, a member of the Legacy of Love team will contact you after you've pledged to discuss and record your message.
  3. We will confirm the information to be engraved on any block you purchase before the engraving happens. We will contact you using the contact information you provide. In some cases, we may need to work with you to ensure the information you submit will fit on the block size purchased. There will be example blocks at the church for you to see.
